Ensuring Our Neighbors Have Clean Drinking Water
The Salinas Basin Agricultural Stewardship Group (SBASG) is dedicated to the development of a long term, cooperative, community-wide solution to help ensure our community has the clean drinking water it needs. In the meantime, SBASG is funding and operating a temporary clean water distribution program for Salinas Basin residents whose water source contains nitrate above acceptable drinking water standards.
How the Program Works
The Water Distribution Program is being operated by the Coalition of Urban Rural Environmental Stewardship (CURES). Residents within the Salinas Basin (see map) who believe they are affected can contact CURES to request a water test. If water sample shows nitrate above acceptable drinking water standards, they may qualify for free drinking water. If they do, CURES will estimate the amount of clean water needed for the household and arrange for prepaid deliveries.
